POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Practitioner (NP), under the direction of the Medical Director/Supervising Physician and/or the Nurse Manager, is a Registered Nurse who possesses additional clinical and didactic education to function at an advanced level of nursing practice. They will be clinically competent in physical diagnosis, psychosocial assessment and management of health-illness needs to provide direct patient care and education to patients, families, students, and nursing staff.  The NP consistently demonstrates the core values of Enloe Medical Center and serves as a role model to other employees.   The Physician Assistant (PA), under the direction of the Medical Director/Supervising Physician and Nurse Manager provides and coordinates direct patient care. The PA provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative healthcare service, as delegated by a physician. The PA will report to the Nurse Manager for all employee/employer issues regarding departmental and organizational operations. The PA consistently demonstrates the core values of Enloe Medical Center and serves as a role model to other employees.  

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program OR graduate of a PA educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission (ARC) on Education for Physician Assistants (or its predecessor agency) OR current certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Desired: Acute hospital experience within the past two years One-year outpatient clinic experience with wound, ostomy & pre/or post-op surgical patients Bilingual in Spanish

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Minimum for NP: Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with the California Board of Registered Nursing Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner Furnisher with the California Board of Registered Nursing  Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number or proof of application  Current AHA-HCP CPR recognition Current ACLS recognition (within 3 months of hire) Credentialed through the Enloe Medical Staff and Finance offices Meets Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) criteria to bill Medicare  Minimum for PA: Current California Physician Assistant License Current certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) if not graduate from an accredited PA school Current AHA-HCP CPR recognition ACLS recognition (within 3 months of hire) Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number or proof of application   Credentialed through the Enloe Medical Staff and Finance Office Desired: Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse or Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse Wound Treatment Associate

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Must have the confidence and experience to work independently with diverse patient populations and experience in accessing specialty referrals and community resources.  Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.  Must have the ability to lead, motivate, delegate, analyze information and problem solve.
